.Cacti love bright, direct sunlight. Place them in the sunniest spot in your home, ideally a south or west-facing window.
.If you notice your cactus stretching or looking pale (etiolation), it’s not getting enough light.
.Allow the soil to dry out completely between watering. Stick your finger an inch or two into the soil to check.
.When you do water, water thoroughly until it drains out of the bottom of the pot.
.During their active growing season (spring and summer), they’ll need more frequent watering than during their dormant period (fall and winter).
.In winter, they might only need watering once a month or even less.
.Use a specialized cactus and succulent potting mix, or create your own by mixing regular potting soil with perlite, pumice, or coarse sand.
.Fertilize once or twice during their active growing season (spring/summer) with a diluted, low-nitrogen fertilizer specifically formulated for cacti and succulents.
.Cacti generally don’t need frequent repotting.
.Repot when the plant becomes root-bound, typically every 2-4 years.
